cold winds

October 29, 2013

cold winds whisper of the coming winter
and winter is required for the spring
say those whom I have never met

bitter breezes clear the prairie path
leaving only fools who pedal out
amongst the fading embers of last light

I stood on the hill and stared into the sun
hoping it would burn away your memories
riding home I felt the tears along my cheek
product of the biting, bitter wind

We don’t get wintry winds here but during my very difficult years, I used to walk in the rain. People thought me crazy. But it helped to mask my emotions.
