stay – dverse

June 6, 2014

“He wants me to sleep with him”
“Is that what you want?”
“I don’t know, but he needs me.”
“And I don’t?”
“That’s not what I mean.”
Fingers find memories
From cheek, past breast, to thigh
No words, just the silence of our breath
For in a moment she’d be in my arms
soon enough she’d be away
The price of words unsaid.

  2. Wow, brilliantly done. Take a bow from me.

  3. Lovely poem, Bill!

    • thanks Resa – a long long ago memory. I think this is the first attempt – and over time I will write it again.

Sometimes I wonder what the memory from the other vantage point might be.

  4. That price – wonder if it’s the words unsaid or that words said that has the highest price.

  5. There is a price to words unsaid, isn’t there?

  6. oh i wish we would be able to speak those words that need to be said…

  7. Whew, what a situation! If only people could find the words at times like this, so much hurt could be spared.

  8. it is the unsaid words that scare me most..
a failure to tell them of love…a failure to say no
    a failure to speak up

  9. The price of words unsaid – sometimes actions speak louder ~ And how they can hurt terribly ~
