king – poem dverse

March 27, 2014

It’s joy when through the night we touching stay
But when you come to me by light of day
Unhurridly we savor taste and touch to know delight
For always when you smile it draws my eye
As we age a man may lose so many things
But always on the throne of love remains a king

From → dverse, poetry

  1. The last two lines just sweep the heart away..a throne of love for a king..

  2. The last two lines could become a iconic quote.

  3. Ah, your last line is wonderful. Your rhythm is like that of classic poetry. πŸ™‚

  4. There is tender wisdom here. Love is the most mystical and wondrous treasure.

  5. A true poem of wealth and joy – concise, rhythmic, and surely your voice and emotion!

  6. to be a king there must be a queen to compliment and this comes across very well

  7. Thank you for this. There’s an important message, here: a promise, really, that beauty remains (and even deepens) with the years.

So much said, even more implied in this one, Bill; working on my third marriage, this one last 21 years so far, the throne is warmed by the plethora of grandchildren who are beginning to gather around it; lovely flow.

  9. Love in such a beautiful form, great rhythm to this piece and I love that last line.

  10. There is so much to ageing and finding love and touch differently than in our youth. Long may the King reign.

  11. As he ages a man may lose things but he gains things that a younger man does not possess!

You know Cressida – ( if that not be your nom de plume )
we do gain peace and wisdom ( or at least what we think passes for it ) and I would not go back from the lessons I’ve learned and the people I’ve met and loved.

      Thanks for stopping by

  12. yeah… the throne of love is a good place to be…smiles

  13. This is really beautiful! It has a great rhythm to it, and I agree, love can make even a pauper a king.

  14. What a lovely love ending ~ Beautiful Bill ~

  15. love steals time in many ways…allowing one to get lost in another or find youth in a touch. reign on.

  16. …And with his Queen beside him, if I might add πŸ™‚

  17. Dear Bill, where do i get one of these thrones of Love?? Very well put enjoyed your work as I always do.

  18. You definitely have the flow going in this, Bill … and any man or woman who knows that they are truly loved has a prize beyond compare.

  19. smiles…i think with age love can deepen…we are less rushed to satisfaction and can focus more on the pleasures of just being together….def a nice gentle rhythm…and i think we remain king of that love as long as we are willing to humble ourselves on that throne…

  20. You’re right! He’s still there! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  21. Oh yes….love always does remain a ‘king,’ no matter what the age!!

  22. I enjoyed your sensual and romantic poem, Bill!

  23. The wonder in a gentle hymn.. the king remains on his throne.. nice flow in this Bill
