He wanted to. The words were on his lips…
“Seeing you can make a man, though he be rich or poor, feel like a king.”
But she had turned and vanished, his words merely thoughts, a chance never to be recaptured.
The next day a young woman loitered near the station, disappointed he did not appear. She had come because she believed in love at first sight. With a reluctant sigh she departed for she also believed in chance.
