lingering – haiku

May 30, 2013

faint on evening’s breath
the last lilacs linger still
fading with the dusk

night echoes taunt me
in dark silence the heart speaks
who has stolen yours?

  1. I often wonder who has stolen the years as well. Beautifully written haiku.

  2. A really affecting haiku. Such a beautiful first line – but they’re all good. Thank you.

  3. Very atmospheric, Bill–with an unexpected sad ending. Well done.
