care – poem

April 27, 2013

I day-dreamt today
desk to elbow supported palm cradling bearded chin
miles away, envisioning just you.
Perhaps I imagined a wisp of your scent
or closed my eyes to your murmuring lips
then started to reality – involuntarily smiling.
I didn’t mention it however,
because in love
who cares most loses.

  1. Nice poem. Great last line.
I don’t believe that last line for a moment

    • you must have always got the girl πŸ™‚

      • No. It’s not that.
Caring is never losing (sorry that sounds like “Love means never having to say you’re sorry”)
It’s more that I’d rather care and lose than never to have cared at all. πŸ˜‰

        • I think this fellow is afraid to over-commit too early in the courting πŸ™‚ – I suspect he cares deeply but doesn’t want to frighten her away.

  2. You’re not losing me, feel free to mention it. Wait. You did. πŸ™‚

  3. I loved this. Pondering that last line.

  4. Enlightening.
