flash fiction Zeds – 4

this is a continuation of the Zeds flash fiction — first episode: carrion hope, previous episode: flash-fiction-zeds-3

You could tell by the eyes. Empty, hollow eyes testifying the truth of the zombified undead was worse than imaginable.
He would be a rugged man, if he lived to grow up, and she a beauty. But who knew what scars her soul carried now.

They saw me, leaning over the great sword, and stood taller. Relief washed over them, they touched hands without thinking. I nodded to the left, “Food, water, showers”, talk to the Quartermaster. She hesitated, I thought she might reach out to touch my sword. Then she glanced at him waiting and went to join him.

    Lots of feeling in this piece. That’s what I thought at least.
